Steve Ray
spoke and showed a video about an
interesting art project. Jolyan Hofsted, an artist from New York, had
done some very amazing things with ceramic pieces and bamboo. He will
give us and update as the project is finished.

There were a
total of 39 people who attended.

Adam Turtle gave a
slide show on his trip to
China. He had written a paper that was accepted on 100 year history of
bamboo in the US. The meeting, International Conference on Bamboo
Industrial Utilization, was held at Xining University. There were 27
people from 16 countries that attended.

Rachel Lewis
very proud of the bamboo walking
cane that her husband, Roger Jr., had just purchased for her. These
prize
walking canes are made from the species Qiongzhuea tumidissinoda from
the mountains of central China.

After the
meeting, we attended a low country
boil that was hosted by John & Serna Nashworthy.

The rain was pouring
down but a good time was had by all. The food was delicious.

on Roger Jr's back as they stood by the fire pit.

Everybody
seemed to have
a good time despite the rain that fell most of the day and during the
low country boil that evening.
Hope to
see you
at our
next meeting.
