USDA Lab in Byron, Georgia

 June 18,  2005

Everyone was ready to work and clean the groves even though it was very hot. The meeting was hosted by Mike Hotchkiss and Robby Russell of Georgia Bamboo.

Melanie Newman (in the center of photo) is the curator of the bamboo and was very pleased with all the hard work that was done.

Paul Schneider from Tennessee.

John Reeves attends all the Southeast Chapter meetings. He lives in Michigan and has over 40 different varieties of bamboo. A true bamboo lover.

Sylvia Fraust, Michele Marie von Bergen, from Tennessee and John Reeves

Tracy Cato is hard at work.

Chain saws were used. Bill and Ellen King from Florida are clearing away all the dead canes in a plot of larger bamboo.

Roger Lewis Sr. and John Reeves.

Just part of the group eating lunch at Lane's Packing after a hard morning in the groves. Everyone enjoyed the homemade ice cream at Lane's.

Mary Ann Silverman and Gayle Lewis.

After lunch, we toured some of Mike and Robby's groves in Fort Valley.
Everyone had a terrific day.

Hope to see you at our next meeting.
